Job Description
A company is looking for an experienced Telehandler Operator to safely operate telescopic material-handling equipment at construction, industrial, infrastructure, and other project sites.
The operator will handle materials such as pipes, pallets, construction equipment, and other heavy loads and must follow site safety and lifting procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the telehandler safely according to manufacturer instructions.
- Lift, move, position, and place construction materials and equipment.
- Check the load weight, lifting capacity, load chart, and operating radius before lifting.
- Use the correct attachment, such as forks, buckets, hooks, or platforms.
- Follow instructions from the banksman or signalman during lifting operations.
- Carry out daily pre-start equipment inspections.
- Report equipment defects and maintenance issues.
- Keep a safe distance from workers, buildings, power lines, and other equipment.
- Secure loads properly before moving them.
- Follow site traffic routes and equipment movement plans.
- Keep the telehandler clean and carry out basic operator maintenance.
- Complete equipment inspection and operation records.
- Follow all HSE, PPE, and lifting safety requirements.
- Stop work if an unsafe condition is found.
Requirements
- Valid Telehandler Operator license or certificate.
- 3–5 years of telehandler operating experience.
- Experience in construction, infrastructure, industrial, or facility projects is preferred.
- Good knowledge of load charts, lifting capacity, machine stability, and safe lifting procedures.
- Experience using different telehandler attachments.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Able to work with banksmen, riggers, supervisors, and site teams.
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors and in demanding site conditions.
Safety Requirements
The operator must:
- Complete a daily machine inspection before starting work.
- Wear the required PPE at all times.
- Never exceed the machine’s rated lifting capacity.
- Never carry unauthorized passengers.
- Never move an unstable or unsecured load.
- Maintain safe clearance from people and obstacles.
- Follow approved lifting plans and site safety procedures.
