A construction company in Bahrain is looking for an experienced Cost Control Engineer to manage project costs, budgets, quantities, procurement records, and commercial reports. The role involves tracking spending, preparing cost estimates, checking quotations, and making sure projects stay within budget.

Main Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates, BOQs, and cost plans using architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Carry out quantity take-offs and site measurements.
- Track project costs, expenses, commitments, and budget performance.
- Check material prices, labor rates, subcontractor quotations, and supplier offers.
- Compare supplier quotations and assist with vendor negotiations.
- Monitor subcontractor and supplier costs against approved budgets and contracts.
- Assist with main contracts and subcontract administration.
- Review contract terms, payment conditions, and commercial requirements.
- Measure completed work for interim payment applications.
- Check and price variations, change orders, and site instructions.
- Maintain accurate project cost records and financial documents.
- Prepare cost reconciliation reports and identify cost overruns, differences, and possible savings.
- Prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts based on project progress and spending.
- Prepare monthly cost-control and commercial reports.
- Assist with final accounts, claims, and commercial assessments.
- Compare actual project costs with budgets and forecasts.
- Coordinate with project managers, Quantity Surveyors, engineers, procurement teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Review drawings and specifications to make sure quantities and project costs are accurate.
Requirements
- Strong experience in construction cost control, quantity surveying, estimating, or commercial management.
- Good knowledge of BOQs, cost estimates, cost plans, and quantity take-offs.
- Understanding of construction material prices, labor rates, and subcontractor costs.
- Experience with construction procurement and supplier negotiations.
- Good knowledge of construction contracts and commercial terms.
- Experience with main contracts and subcontract administration.
- Strong site measurement and work valuation skills.
- Able to calculate variations, change orders, and site instructions.
- Experience with project cost tracking, forecasting, cash flow, and cost reconciliation.
- Able to prepare monthly commercial reports, final accounts, and claim assessments.
- Experience with quantity take-off and measurement software.
- Advanced MS Excel skills for cost tracking, analysis, reporting, and financial calculations.
- Able to read and cross-check architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Strong analytical, numerical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Good attention to detail and ability to meet project deadlines.
Preferred Candidates
Candidates who are already in Bahrain are preferred, and immediate joiners will have an advantage. Strong construction project experience is highly considered. Experience with building, villa, commercial, or high-rise projects is also preferred.
