A construction company in Bahrain is hiring an experienced Quantity Surveying Engineer to handle project costs, quantity measurements, BOQs, contracts, variations, and commercial control. The role requires close coordination with engineering, procurement, project, and site teams.
Main Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQ), quantity take-offs, and cost plans
- Calculate quantities from architectural and structural drawings
- Review construction material prices, labor rates, and subcontractor quotations
- Compare commercial quotations and support supplier negotiations
- Assist with construction procurement and supplier sourcing
- Help prepare, manage, and administer main contracts and subcontracts
- Carry out site measurements, remeasurement, and valuation of completed work
- Prepare interim payment applications
- Assess and price variations, change orders, additional works, and site instructions
- Monitor actual costs, committed costs, project spending, and budgets
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and cost reconciliation statements
- Prepare monthly commercial reports, cost reports, final accounts, payment applications, and claim assessments
- Use quantity take-off, estimating, measurement, and cost-control software
- Use MS Excel for cost calculations, quantity tracking, analysis, and financial reports
- Read and compare architectural, structural, and MEP drawings and specifications
- Work with engineers, site teams, procurement staff, subcontractors, consultants, and management
- Monitor project costs against budgets and identify possible cost overruns and commercial risks
- Maintain records of quantities, measurements, contracts, variations, claims, payments, and project costs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Quantity Surveying Engineer, or Commercial Engineer
- Strong construction industry experience
- Good knowledge of BOQ preparation, quantity take-off, estimation, cost control, valuation, variations, claims, and contract administration
- Experience with building projects, villas, high-rise buildings, commercial projects, or large developments is preferred
- Bahrain construction experience is highly preferred
- Strong numerical, analytical, negotiation, and commercial skills
- Excellent knowledge of MS Excel and quantity surveying/estimating software
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Able to work with multiple project teams and stakeholders
- Immediate joiners are preferred
- Must currently be available in Bahrain
