A company is looking for an experienced QA/QC Inspector to handle quality inspections for heavy transportation, rig move operations, lifting equipment, and related machinery.
The role requires strong mechanical inspection knowledge and the ability to make sure equipment, materials, transportation work, and lifting activities meet Oil & Gas standards and client requirements.
Main Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming materials and equipment and verify they meet project requirements.
- Carry out pre-rig move inspections, check test certificates, and perform field tests.
- Monitor daily transportation and rig move activities at project sites.
- Inspect cranes, trucks, trailers, and other heavy equipment before mobilization.
- Check mechanical condition, safety compliance, and operational readiness of equipment.
- Prepare and issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for defective work or materials and follow up on corrective actions.
- Maintain inspection registers, checklists, logs, test records, and other QA/QC documents.
- Prepare final quality dossiers for project activities.
- Perform pre-delivery, routine, and post-maintenance inspections on:
- Heavy trucks
- Hydraulic trailers
- Mobile cranes
- Crawler cranes
- Inspect crane booms, outriggers, wire ropes, hooks, and load-bearing structures for cracks, wear, and deformation.
- Carry out Visual Testing (VT) and coordinate NDT inspections when required.
- Check braking systems, engines, transmissions, pneumatic systems, and hydraulic systems on trucks and trailers.
- Verify valid third-party load test certificates for cranes.
- Check trucks and trailers for compliance with applicable transport authority safety requirements.
- Inspect lifting and rigging equipment, including belts, latches, ropes, and cargo securing equipment.
- Record equipment defects and maintenance issues.
- Issue quarantine notices for unsafe equipment and verify corrective maintenance before approval.
Requirements
Education
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
Certifications
- Certified Lifting Equipment Inspector certification such as LEEA is highly preferred.
- NDT certification is highly preferred.
Experience
- 5–10 years of mechanical QA/QC inspection experience.
- Experience with heavy equipment, heavy transportation, lifting operations, or rig move projects.
Skills
- Good knowledge of heavy equipment inspection and testing.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Knowledge of standard inspection and testing methods.
- Good technical reporting and documentation skills.
- Strong understanding of lifting, rigging, transportation, and equipment safety requirements.
