Job Description
A company in Bahrain is hiring an experienced Cost Control Engineer to manage and monitor costs for construction projects.
The role includes project cost control, budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, procurement costs, variations, and financial reporting. The candidate should have practical construction experience and understand how project costs are managed from start to finish.
Main Duties
- Monitor project costs, budgets, and expenses
- Prepare project cost reports and cost forecasts
- Track actual costs against approved budgets
- Identify cost differences and possible cost overruns
- Analyse project spending and suggest ways to reduce costs
- Monitor material, labour, equipment, subcontractor, and procurement costs
- Review BOQs, quotations, purchase orders, invoices, and subcontractor payments
- Track project variations, change orders, and additional works
- Work with Quantity Surveyors, Procurement, Project Managers, Engineers, and Accounts teams
- Prepare monthly cost reports and management summaries
- Track committed, actual, and forecast costs
- Assist with cash flow forecasts and project financial planning
- Check supplier and subcontractor costs against approved budgets and contracts
- Report cost risks to project management
- Maintain accurate cost records and supporting documents
- Assist with final project cost reconciliation and project close-out
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Finance, or a related field
- 3+ years of cost control experience in the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of building construction and project cost management
- Experience with project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, and financial reports
- Good knowledge of BOQs, variations, subcontractor costs, procurement, and project expenses
- Able to read and understand architectural, structural, and MEP drawings
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
- Experience with construction or project management software is an advantage
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Must be currently available in Bahrain
- Immediate joiners are preferred
Important Information
Candidates with strong hands-on construction cost control experience will be given priority.
This position is not intended for candidates with only general accounting experience and no construction background.
