A company in Saudi Arabia is looking for a Yokogawa DCS Engineer with hands-on experience in CENTUM VP. The role covers DCS engineering, system configuration, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and site support for industrial projects.
Main Responsibilities
- Configure, test, commission, and troubleshoot Yokogawa CENTUM VP DCS
- Develop and modify control logic, sequences, interlocks, permissives, and control loops
- Configure DCS databases, I/O points, control modules, and function blocks
- Create and update HMI graphics, faceplates, trends, alarms, and process displays
- Install and configure DCS hardware and software
- Review P&IDs, I/O lists, instrument indexes, control narratives, logic diagrams, and Cause & Effect documents
- Perform FAT, SAT, loop checking, I/O checks, and functional testing
- Check signals from field instruments to the DCS
- Troubleshoot DCS hardware, software, communication, I/O, and control logic problems
- Work with instrumentation, electrical, process, mechanical, and commissioning teams
- Support interfaces between DCS, PLC, SIS, ESD, SCADA, Modbus, OPC, and other systems
- Check control loops, alarms, trips, interlocks, sequences, and shutdown functions
- Support system backup, database management, and technical documentation
- Prepare test reports, punch lists, commissioning records, and as-built documents
- Provide technical support during plant start-up, shutdown, and commissioning
- Coordinate with Yokogawa representatives, clients, vendors, and subcontractors
Technical Skills
Candidates should have practical knowledge of:
- Yokogawa CENTUM VP
- DCS architecture and system configuration
- I/O configuration and signal mapping
- HMI and operator station configuration
- PID control loops and tuning
- Control logic and sequence programming
- Interlocks and permissive logic
- Alarm and event management
- DCS redundancy and networking
- Modbus and OPC communication
- PLC/DCS and SIS/ESD interfaces
- Instrumentation and process control
- FAT, SAT, loop checking, and commissioning
Site Work
The engineer may be required to work at client and project sites for installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and start-up activities.
The role also includes:
- Supporting pre-commissioning and commissioning
- Coordinating daily work with the client and project team
- Recording daily progress and technical issues
- Closing commissioning punch items
- Following project HSE and safety requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Electrical, Electronics & Instrumentation, Instrumentation, Control Engineering, or a related field
- 3–5 years of relevant DCS engineering and commissioning experience
- Hands-on experience with Yokogawa CENTUM VP is mandatory
- Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, power, water treatment, desalination, or other process industries is preferred
- Experience with FAT, SAT, commissioning, and DCS troubleshooting is an advantage
- Yokogawa CENTUM VP training or certification is a plus
- Good technical communication and reporting skills
- Able to work independently and with multidisciplinary teams
- Willing to work at project and client sites
Preferred Experience
Saudi Arabia project experience is an advantage. Experience with major industrial clients such as Saudi Aramco, SWCC, SEC, or Marafiq may also be preferred.
